If you are considering a career in instructing, then you can be assured of two things: you will make an immediate difference to your life, as well as to the many people who want to learn to drive safely. Becoming a driving instructor means you can be your own boss and dictate your own hours and income. Training with us can mean a lot of hard work and commitment; however, we will be with you every step of the way.
But it is much more than just a job. You actively contribute to improving road safety through teaching a skill for life and enabling new drivers a lifetime of safe riding or driving. For an instructor, no two days are alike. Helping people achieve an important goal in their lives and sharing in their happiness when it finally happens is the best part of the job.
The car instruction course covers both theory and practical lessons over a two-week intensive course. There will be homework, five 1-hour instructional sessions conducted on the learner/licensed drivers out-of-course hours and three major assignments, which you will have extra time after the course to finish.
You will learn how to use the DOT Practical Driving/ Riding Assessment forms from a qualified driving assessor who has over 17 years with DOT. The course will help you understand how people learn with using Bloom’s Taxonomy and then differentiate between the learning styles of your students.
Many instructors diversify into specialist areas, such as advanced driving, fleet training or driver re-education. Whatever you choose, Miro offers you the support and guidance needed to achieve your career ambitions with hands-on experience with real learner drivers.
We will cover how to assess according to a standard and provide many tips on working within the industry, with insurance costs, using dual controls, understanding your OH&S requirements and the road laws and requirements.
